Matthew Williams

My name is Matthew Williams and I am a fifth-year student in the BSMT program at IUPUI.  I discovered my passion for music when I picked up the saxophone during my years in high school.  The wide amount of concert pieces I performed during this time strengthened my passion for music and inspired me to start creating music on many different apps including GarageBand.

When I entered this program, I then discovered Ableton Live which enabled many new possibilities for me in creating the style of music I truly enjoy.  During my time in the program, I performed on the EWI (electric wind instrument) as well as on a handful of MIDI controllers such as the Novation Launchpad and learned the best ways of performing my music live with this technology.  I have performed at many venues including Healer and the WQRT radio station.

Upon graduation, I would like to continue my passion in making music for media platforms.  During college, I have developed a strong appreciation for what is involved in creating video games and movies.  I participated in two Global Game Jam events and created music for the video games my team developed.  I have also created music for a film that one student is working on for his independent study.  I plan to continue reaching out to individuals who are in need of some music and I might eventually might land myself a job position as a composer for film or video game development group.
